Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

In Genesis 37 we meet Joseph, one of the twelve sons of Jacob. His story dominates the balance of the book, all the way to the end of chapter 50. He first appears as an immature boy of seventeen, but soon enough he finds himself in the trouble of his life as his family situation quickly deteriorates under the awful weight of jealously and hatred. Like Abraham, Joseph is one of the central figures in the Biblical story of redemption. Embedded within the historic details of his life we find glimpses of God’s way of salvation, which culminates in the appearance of His only-begotten Son.

On Sunday, we will begin our journey through Joseph’s life and times. Our sermon text will be Genesis 37:1-36. If you’re not familiar with this section of Genesis, let me encourage you to read his entire story from Genesis 37:1 to 50:26. And as you read, look for the four key themes of divine providence, suffering before glory, reconciliation, and God’s perfect faithfulness.

I love you all so dearly, and I look forward to our fellowship and worship together on the Lord’s Day!

In His abundant grace,

Mike
