ORDER OF WORSHIP
FEBRUARY 22, 2015

Call to Worship: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
Psalm 73:23-26
Prayer of Adoration:

Responsive Reading: Psalm 25:1-9

Pastor: To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
People: O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me.
Pastor: Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.
People: Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.
Pastor: Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.
People: Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.
Pastor: Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
People: Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
All: He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

Old Testament Lesson: Genesis 9:8-17

Song: O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus Hymn No. 535, v.1-3

Song: Spirit of the Living God Hymn 726, repeat x3

New Testament Lesson: Mark 1:9-15

Corporate Confession of Sin and Assurance of Pardon:

Song of Response: In Need CCLI# 2431435

In need of grace, in need of love
In need of mercy raining down from high above
In need of strength, in need of peace
In need of things that only You can give to me

In need of Christ, the perfect lamb
My refuge strong, the great I Am
This is my song, my humble plea
I am your child, I am in need

Scripture Reading and Prayer for the Church: Fred Fohrell, Ruling Elder
Galatians 6

Preaching of the Word: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
Genesis 22:1-14 “The Covenant With Abraham–Part Six”

Confession of Faith The Heidelberg Catechism

Q. 60: How are you righteous before God?

A: Only by true faith in Jesus Christ: that is, although my conscience accuses me, that I have grievously sinned against all the commandments of God, and have never kept any of them, and am still prone always to all evil; yet God, without any merit of mine, of mere grace, grants and imputes to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ, as if I had never committed nor had any sins, and had myself accomplished all the obedience which Christ has fulfilled for me; if only I accept such benefit with a believing heart.

Communion*:

Song: Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go Hymn No 708, v,1, 3-4

Benediction:

*Professing and baptized members in good standing of a Church in which Jesus Christ is proclaimed as Lord and Savior are warmly invited to join with us in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
