ORDER OF WORSHIP
March 15, 2015

Call to Worship: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
Revelation 19:1
Prayer of Adoration:

Old Testament Lesson: Numbers 21:4-9

Confession of Sin: Psalm 51
Pastor: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
People: Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
Pastor: For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
People: Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.
Pastor: Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
People: Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.
Pastor: Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
People: Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
Pastor: Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
People: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Pastor: Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
All: Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Assurance of Pardon: Hebrews 10:14

Song: Come Christians Join to Sing Hymn No. 302, v.1-3

Song: O Help My Unbelief CCLI#6175065

How sad our state by nature is! Our sin how deep it stains!
And Satan binds our captive minds fast in his slavish chains
But there’s a voice of sovereign grace, sounds from the sacred Word:
“O, ye despairing sinners come, And trust upon the Lord”

My soul obeys th’ almighty call, And runs to this relief
I would believe thy promise, Lord; O help my unbelief!
To the dear fountain of thy blood, Incarnate God, I fly
Here let me wash my spotted soul, From crimes of deepest dye

Stretch out thine arm, victorious King My reigning sins subdue;
Drive the old dragon from his seat, with all his hellish crew
A guilty, weak, and helpless worm, on thy kind arms I fall
Be thou my strength and righteousness My Jesus, be my all;

But there’s a voice of sovereign grace, sounds from the sacred Word:
“O, ye despairing sinners come, And trust upon the Lord”

New Testament Lesson: John 3:14-21

Song of Response: My Jesus, I Love Thee Hymn 648, v.1-2,4

Scripture Reading and Prayer for the Church: Dr. Mike Calvert, Teaching Elder
Romans 3

Preaching of the Word: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
Genesis 50:15-26 “Joseph, The Dreamer, Part Three”

Confession of Faith: The Heidelberg Catechism
Lord’s Day 24
Q 62. But why cannot our good works be the whole or part of our righteousness before God?

A. Because the righteousness which can stand before the judgment seat of God must be perfect throughout and entirely conformable to the divine law, but even our best works in this life are all imperfect and defiled with sin.

Communion*:

Song: Man of Sorrows, What A Name Hymn 246, v.1-5

Benediction:

*Professing and baptized members in good standing of a Church in which Jesus Christ is proclaimed as Lord and Savior are warmly invited to join with us in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
