Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I just wanted to send you a brief reminder about our two special Holy Week Worship Services. Tomorrow night at 6:00 PM we will gather to commemorate the “new commandment” set forth by Jesus and the institution of the Lord’s Supper. This service takes place on ‘Maundy Thursday’ (‘Maundy’ meaning ‘commandment’). Our service will consist of selected Scripture readings and songs, and I will offer a short sermon on John 13:34-35 just prior to the observance of Communion. The worship will end with Tenebrae, the ‘service of darkness,’ that symbolizes the three hours of darkness that covered the earth while Jesus hung on the cross, as well as the literal darkness of the tomb.
Then on Friday night we will gather at 6:00 PM for our ‘Good Friday’ Service. Once again our liturgy will consist of selected Scriptures and songs, and I will be preaching a sermon from 1 Corinthians 15:1-3 on the significance of the death of Jesus on the cross.
A nursery will be provided for both services and guests are most welcome.
I love you all and I’ll see you tomorrow night!
Mike
