ORDER OF WORSHIP
May 10, 2015
Call to Worship: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
Psalm 5:11
Prayer of Adoration:
Old Testament Lesson: Psalm 98
Song: O The Deep, Deep Love of Jesus Hymn 535 v.1-3
Song: Wonderful, Merciful Savior CCLI# 106879
Wonderful, merciful Savior, precious redeemer and friend
Who would have thought that a lamb could rescue the souls of men?
Oh you rescue the souls of men
Counselor, comforter, keeper, Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have hopelessly lost their way
Oh we hopelessly lost the way
CHORUS: You are the One that we praise, you are the One we adore
You give the healing and grace our hearts always hunger for,
Oh our hearts always hunger for
Almighty infinite Father, faithfully loving your own
Here in our weakness you find us falling before your throne,
Oh we’re falling before your throne
New Testament Lesson: 1 John 5:1-6
Confession of Faith: The Heidelberg Catechism
Q. 61. Why do you say that you are righteous by faith only?
A. Not that I am acceptable to God on account of the worthiness of my faith, but because only the satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ is my righteousness before God; and I can receive the same and make it my own in no other way than by faith only.
Song of Response: In Need CCLI# 2431435
In need of grace, in need of love
In need of mercy raining down from high above
In need of strength, in need of peace
In need of things that only You can give to me
In need of Christ, the perfect lamb
My refuge strong, the great I Am
This is my song, my humble plea
I am your child, I am in need
Scripture Reading and Prayer for the Church: Romans 8:1-25
Preaching of the Word: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
“Bread From Heaven” Exodus 16:1-36
Confession of Sin:
Pastor: Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:6-7).
All: O most mighty God, and merciful Father, who has compassion upon all men, and who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather that he should turn from his sin, and be saved; mercifully forgive us our trespasses; receive and comfort us, who are grieved and wearied with the burden of our sins. Your disposition is always to have mercy; it is Your character to forgive sins. Spare us therefore, good Lord, spare Your people, whom You have redeemed; enter not into judgment with Your servants; but so turn Your anger from us, who meekly acknowledge our transgressions, and truly repent of our faults, and so make haste to help us in this world, that we may ever live with You in the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Assurance of Pardon: Ephesians 2:13-14
Communion*:
Song: How Deep CCLI# 4803944
You were broken that I might be healed
You were cast off that I might draw near
You were thirsty that I might come drink
Cried out in anguish that I might sing
CHORUS: How deep is Your love, how high and how wide is your mercy
How deep is Your grace, our hearts overflow with praise to you
You knew darkness that I might know light
Wept great tears that mine might be dried
Stripped of glory that I might be clothed
Crushed by Your Father to call me Your own
Benediction:
*Professing and baptized members in good standing of a Church in which Jesus Christ is proclaimed as Lord and Savior are warmly invited to join with us in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
