This coming Sunday we will complete our summer long study of the Epistle of Second John. We will be looking at verses 12 and 13 which contain John’s final words to the saints in Asia Minor. He concludes his little letter with these inspired lines:
12 Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may be complete. 13 The children of your elect sister greet you.
Like the rest of the Epistle, there is much truth tightly compressed into these short verses! And with the help of the Spirit, we will try to extract and apply what we discover here.
As we take an initial look, there are at least three significant points to consider: First, we see the importance of personal relationships within the body of Christ (I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face). Second, we see the glorious result of the rich personal fellowship we share in the Lord (so that our joy may be complete). And third, we discover John’s emphasis upon what has been called the ‘communion of the saints’ in the one true and holy Church of Christ (The children of your elect sister greet you).
I can’t wait to open the Word with you as we gather before our King and Lord!
All my love in our blessed Savior,
Mike

Q. 107. What doth the conclusion the Lord’s prayer teach us?
A. 107. The conclusion of the Lord’s prayer (which is, For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen) teacheth us to take our encouragement in prayer from God only, and in our prayers to praise him, ascribing kingdom, power, and glory to him. And, in testimony of our desire, and assurance to be heard, we say, Amen.

Announcements:
Children’s Sunday School:
We are beginning to plan for our Sunday school program for the 2017-18 class year. This is such an important part of our Sunday morning teaching time, and we encourage all families to be involved in a class. Click HERE to register each child or youth.
Parents with children ages infant thru high school should register. This will help us divide classes and find the appropriate teachers for each group. Registration is open to members or guests.
We can’t wait to see your families in Sunday school starting September 10th!
In Him,
Ashley

Ladies Summer Scripture Read Along:
I’ve heard some good things this summer regarding the Scripture Read-Along. Many of you have told me that you’re following the chapter guide and I, like you, have discovered new verses that I love as well as ones that I’d heard before but never been able to place. If you started but then fell off, I did too! My audio Bible app has been a help in getting caught up.
{This week’s reading: Jeremiah 37-50, next week: finishing up Jeremiah 51-end}
A few ladies have mentioned that they’d like to be able to pray for others who are participating, and we also talked about having a coffee fellowship at Panera Bread to close out the series. If we do another read-along this fall, I’d love to have a list to share so that we could pray together and for one another; and if a coffee fellowship interests you, look for an upcoming email announcing a date in September.
BUT before I plan out the next series: I would appreciate any feedback you have about this!
