Sermon Preview:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

This coming Lord’s Day we will take the second of our three looks at Hebrews 4:14-16.

You will remember that the theme of this magnificent passage is ‘Jesus Our Great High Priest.’ This week we will consider a couple of major issues that we discover in this text about His ministry as the final High Priest.

First, we will look at why we need a better priest. And then, we will explore the things that make Jesus the greatest High Priest of all. Again, you will benefit from studying Hebrews 4:14-5:10 in preparation for Sunday’s message from God’s Word.

A Note About Sunday School

We had a wonderful first day back last Lord’s Day in Sunday School! We are so very thankful for all of our teachers and leaders who have committed themselves to serving in our educational ministry. Praise the Lord for your “ labor of love” (1 Thessalonians 1:3)!

For those attending our High School through Adult Class on “Understanding the Times,” let me encourage you to be sure and download the outlines from the Church website for your use this Sunday in our class. You may find them below, or on the main page of the church website.

This week we will continue our discussion of Marxism, with a special focus upon Marxism as it appears today in our world (what’s known as ‘Cultural Marxism’). We will consider how it differs radically from the Christian worldview, and how we should respond to it from the Word of God.

May our Father bless you richly, and I love you with all my heart!

Mike

Announcements:

COVID-19 Message:

For those of you who are attending worship in person on Sunday morning, please practice social distancing as much as you are able and observe the pew markers so that we may keep a safe, 6-ft between families. During this time, we will not have nursery or fellowship time with food and drink. If any family member has been sick, or you have a pre-existing condition, please consider staying home and joining us by watching the recorded service when it is sent out. The Session has asked all congregants, out of love for one another, to wear a mask throughout our worship service if you are able. We hope and pray that if you have any needs, you will let a staff member or deacon know so that we can serve you well during this trying time.

Church Work Day:

We will have Church Work Day 8 AM – Noon, Saturday, October 24. The purpose is to perform needed landscaping and cleaning at the Church and Church House. While doing this, we will have a great time of fellowship. We need the help of about 30 adults and teens to help with this job. We also need tools.
Please sign up in the narthex to help and bring needed tools or send sign up email to Joe Sims at: vegeman1966@gmail.com
We will maintain social distancing and provide sanitary snacks (packaged and bottled water).
If the weather is bad, our backup Work Day will be Saturday, November 7.
