Call to Worship:  1 Chronicles 16:8-10

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!

Prayer of Adoration:

Song:  A Mighty Fortress Is Our GodHymn No. 92, v.1-4

The Old Testament Lesson:  Psalm 149

Confession of Faith: The Westminster Confession of Faith

Chapter 8: Christ Our Mediator – In his eternal purpose it pleased God to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, his only begotten Son, to be the mediator between God and man. Jesus is the prophet, priest, and king, the head and savior of his church, the heir of all things, and judge of the world. From all eternity God gave him a people to be his seed and to be in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified by him.

The New Testament Lesson: 1 John 3:1-3

Pastor: See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
People: The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Pastor: Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
People: And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Song: Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul – CCLI #3112430

Dear refuge of my weary soul, on Thee, when sorrows rise
On Thee, when waves of trouble roll, my fainting hope relies
To Thee I tell each rising grief, for Thou alone canst heal
Thy Word can bring a sweet relief, for every pain I feel

But oh, when gloomy doubts prevail I fear to call Thee mine
The springs of comfort seem to fail, and all my hopes decline
Yet gracious God, where shall I flee, Thou art my only trust
And still my soul would cleave to Thee, though prostrate in the dust

Hast Thou not bid me seek Thy face, and shall I seek in vain
And can the ear of sovereign grace, be deaf when I complain
No still the ear of sovereign grace attends the mourner’s prayer
Oh may I ever find access to breathe my sorrows there

Thy mercy seat is open still, here let my soul retreat
With humble hope attend Thy will, and wait beneath Thy feet
Thy mercy seat is open still, here let my soul retreat
With humble hope attend Thy will, and wait beneath Thy feet

Prayer for the Church:  Daron Drown, Ruling Elder.

The Sermon: “Our High Priest Forever.”  Hebrews 5:5-6. Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder.

Confession of Sin:

Assurance of Pardon: Isaiah 54:10

For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Song: Hark the Voice of Love and Mercy – CCLI #2793362

Hark, the voice of love and mercy, sounds aloud from Calvary!
See it rends the rocks asunder; shakes the earth and veils the sky!
“It is finished, it is finished,” hear the dying Savior cry.
“It is finished, it is finished,” hear the dying Savior cry.

“It is finished,” o what pleasure do these charming words afford.
Heavenly blessings without measure flow to us from Christ the Lord.
“It is finished, it is finished,” saints the dying words record.
“It is finished, it is finished,” saints the dying words record.

Finished all the types and shadows of the ceremonial law.
Finished all that God had promised, death and hell no more shall awe.
“It is finished, it is finished,” saints from hence your comfort draw.
“It is finished, it is finished,” saints from hence your comfort draw.

Tune your harps anew, ye seraphs, join to sing the pleasing theme
Saints of earth and all in heaven join to praise Immanuel’s name.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Glory to the bleeding lamb!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Glory to the bleeding lamb!

The Benediction: From 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen!
