Announcements – October 25, 2024

My Dear Family in Christ Jesus,
One of the most important Biblical words related to the Gospel is the word “peace.” And, as you know, this word is also front and center on the minds of virtually everyone alive on this earth.  I can make such a wide and comprehensive claim because this is exactly what all humanity lost in the Garden of Eden.
In the fall of Adam, we all became hopelessly bereft of peace with our Creator, peace among ourselves as image-bearers, and even peace with the creation itself. No wonder our world looks like it does. No wonder the human soul is terminally restless!
However, long ago the prophet Ezekiel introduced a divine promise that would deal directly with the absence of this peace.  In Ezekiel 34:25-31, our sermon text for this coming Lord’s Day, we read of God’s eternal plan to address this most basic spiritual need. The prophet writes of a “covenant of peace” that God Himself will execute, and He will do so unilaterally and unconditionally. It will in every way be a ‘new covenant,’ unprecedented, unanticipated, and unbelievably amazing!
As we will discover, this new “covenant of peace” will come to fallen sinners by way of a great Shepherd-King named “David.”   Even though king David of Israel had been dead for over 400 years, Ezekiel has promised that another ‘David’ shall arise, a greater ‘David,’ who alone will deliver eternal peace to all those without it who simply repent and place their faith in Him.
I can’t wait to explore this great promise with each of you on Sunday!
I love you all,
Mike
