Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
Before I introduce our sermon passage for this coming Sunday, let me remind you that this Saturday night is the time we ‘Spring Forward.’ Daylight Saving Time begins once again, so be sure to make that adjustment in your clocks before heading off to sleep.
If you do a quick study of the Epistle’s of Paul, you will find that he begins, and sometimes even ends, his letters with a greeting composed of “grace,” “peace,” and even “mercy” as he does in 1 Timothy 1:2. Far from being just his usual practice, the Apostle Paul intends that these words set the stage for what he communicates in the body of his letters.
1 Timothy is no different. There is a definite reason that as he pens his letter to Timothy, Paul starts with “Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This Lord’s Day we will seek to understand why Paul initiates his correspondence with Timothy in this way. And we will also explore the depths of each of the three beautiful words we find here so prominently set forth in verse 2.
I love you all so dearly!
Mike
