Order of Worship – April 17 2016

Call to Worship: Romans 11:36

Prayer of Adoration:

Old Testament Lesson: Psalm 116:1-9

Song: Come Thou Fount – Hymn 457 v.1-3

Song: Sovereign – CCLI #6453309

Sovereign in the mountain air, Sovereign on the ocean floor
With me in the calm, With me in the storm
Sovereign in my greatest joy, Sovereign in my deepest cry
With me in the dark, With me at the dawn

CHORUS:
In Your everlasting arms, all the pieces of my life
From beginning to the end, I can trust You
In Your never failing love, You work everything for good
God whatever comes my way, I will trust You

New Testament Lesson: 1 Peter 1:17-23

Confession of Sin: From Psalm 25

Lord Jesus Christ, Surely You have borne my griefs and carried my sorrows; yet I have considered You stricken by God, and afflicted. But You were pierced through for my transgressions; You were crushed for my iniquities; the chastening for my well-being was upon You; and by Your scourging I am healed. Like a sheep I have gone astray, I have turned to my own way; but the Lord has caused my iniquity to fall on You, my blessed Savior.

Assurance of Pardon: Romans 5:15

Song: Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted – Hymn 257 v.1-4

Scripture Reading and Prayer for the Church:
Dr. Bud Lancaster, Ruling Elder – Matthew 18:1-20

Preaching of the Word: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
“The Fall of Jericho, Part Two” – Joshua 6:7-27

Confession of Faith: The Heidelberg Catechism

Q 81. Who are to come to the table of the Lord?

  1. Those who are displeased with themselves for their sins, yet trust that these are forgiven them, and that their remaining infirmity is covered by the suffering and death of Christ; who also desire more and more to strengthen their faith and to amend their life. But the unrepentant and hypocrites eat and drink judgment to themselves.

Communion*:

Song: Be Unto Your Name – CCLI# 2177476

We are a moment, You are forever, Lord of the Ages, God before time
We are a vapor, You are eternal, Love everlasting, reigning on high
Holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Worthy is the lamb who was slain
Highest praises, honor and glory, Be unto Your name, be unto Your name
We are the broken, You are the healer, Jesus, Redeemer, mighty to save
You are the love song we’ll sing forever, Bowing before You, blessing Your name

Benediction: Psalm 67:1

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us
