Call to Worship: Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Prayer of Adoration:
Song: Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah
Hallelujah, praise Jehovah, O my soul Jehovah praise;
I will sing the glorious praises of my God through all my days.
Put no confidence in princes, nor for help on man depend;
he shall die, to dust returning, and his purposes shall end.
Happy is the man that chooses Israel’s God to be his aid;
he is blessed whose hope of blessing on the Lord his God is stayed.
Heav’n and earth the Lord created, seas and all that they contain;
He delivers from oppression, righteousness He will maintain.
Food He daily gives the hungry, sets the mourning pris’ner free,
raises those bowed down with anguish, makes the sightless eye to see.
Well Jehovah loves the righteous, and the stranger He befriends,
helps the fatherless and widow, judgment on the wicked sends.
Hallelujah, praise Jehovah, O my soul Jehovah praise;
I will sing the glorious praises of my God through all my days.
Over all God reigns forever, through all ages He is King;
unto Him your God O Zion, joyful hallelujahs sing.
The Old Testament Lesson: Exodus 19:2-8
Confession of Faith: From Romans 8:28-30
We believe that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, those who have been called according to his purpose. We believe that those whom God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
The New Testament Lesson: Romans 5:6-10
Confession of Sin:
Almighty God, who are rich in mercy to all those who call upon You, hear us as we come to You humbly confessing our sins and transgressions, and imploring Your mercy and forgiveness. We have broken Your holy laws by our deeds, by our words, and by the sinful affections of our hearts. We confess before You our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and willfulness, and all our failures and shortcomings toward You and toward others. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father, and of Your great goodness grant that we may hereafter serve and please You in newness of life; through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Assurance of Pardon: Hebrews 7:25
Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
Prayer for the Church: Matthew Elliott, Ruling Elder.
The Sermon: “Drawing from the Deep Well.” John 4:31-42. Rev. Jim Daughtry, Teaching Elder.
Song: Give Reviving – CCLI #5706868
Father for Thy promised blessing, Still we plead before Thy throne
For the times of, sweet refreshing, Which can come from Thee alone
Blessed earnests, Thou hast given, But in these we would not rest
Blessings still with Thee are hidden, Pour them forth and make us blest!
Prayer ascendeth to Thee ever, Answer! Father, answer prayer
Bless oh bless each weak endeavor, Blood-bought pardon to declare
Wake Thy slumbering children, wake them, Bid them to Thy harvest go
Blessings O our Father make, Round their steps let blessings flow
Let no people be forgotten, Let Thy showers on all descend
That in one loud blessed anthem, millions may in triumph blend
Give reviving, give refreshing, Give the looked-for Jubilee
To Thyself may crowds be pressing, Bringing glory unto Thee
The Benediction: From 1 Peter 3:18
May you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
