Call to Worship:  Psalm 70.  Trinity Hymnal p. 810

Pastor: Hasten, O God, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me.
People: May those who seek my life be put to shame and confusion;
Pastor: may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
People: May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” turn back because of their shame.
Pastor: But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you;
People: may those who love your salvation always say, “Let God be exalted!”
Pastor: Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God.
People: You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay.

Prayer of Adoration:

Song: Stricken, Smitten, And Afflicted – Hymn 257 v.1-4

Stricken, smitten, and afflicted, see him dying on the tree!
‘Tis the Christ by man rejected; yes, my soul, ’tis he, ’tis he!
‘Tis the long-expected Prophet, David’s Son, yet David’s Lord;
by his Son God now has spoken: ’tis the true and faithful Word.

Tell me, ye who hear him groaning, was there ever grief like his?
Friends thro’ fear his cause disowning, foes insulting his distress;
many hands were raised to wound him, none would interpose to save;
but the deepest stroke that pierced him was the stroke that Justice gave.

Ye who think of sin but lightly nor suppose the evil great
here may view its nature rightly, here its guilt may estimate.
Mark the sacrifice appointed, see who bears the awful load;
’tis the Word, the Lord’s Anointed, Son of Man and Son of God.

Here we have a firm foundation, here the refuge of the lost;
Christ’s the Rock of our salvation, his the name of which we boast.
Lamb of God, for sinners wounded, sacrifice to cancel guilt!
None shall ever be confounded who on him their hope have built.

Song: Be Unto Your Name – CCLI# 2177476

We are a moment, You are forever, Lord of the Ages, God before time
We are a vapor, You are eternal, Love everlasting, reigning on high

Holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Worthy is the lamb who was slain
Highest praises, honor and glory, Be unto Your name, be unto Your
Name

We are the broken, You are the healer, Jesus, Redeemer, mighty to save
You are the love song we’ll sing forever, Bowing before You, blessing
Your name

The Benediction: From Philippians 4:20, 23

Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! And may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen!
