Sermon Preview:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In Matthew 18, we find a tender scene unfolding before us as Jesus interacts with a little child (18:1-4). This Lord’s Day we will take our second look at this encounter as we continue to reflect upon the theme of the sanctify of human life.

Ironically, it is within this beautiful episode that Jesus uses some of the most frightening language we have record of in the Gospels. We find these hard words of our Lord in verse 6. The shocking language of our Savior is designed to reveal just how much the little children matter to Him. It is from this passage that we will again encounter the fact that even the smallest human life is precious in His Kingdom.

Let me encourage you to reflect upon Matthew 18:1-14 as we prepare to come joyfully before our King in worship on Sunday.

A Special Invitation for the Men of CPC

Next Friday, February 4th, we will resume our Friday Lunchtime Men’s Bible Study. We will meet at the Church in the fellowship room from 11:30 AM ‘till 12:30 PM. All the men of CPC and guests are invited to attend (and please feel free to bring your own lunch!).

Our topic will be ‘Knowing Christ,’ based upon the book by Dr. Mark Jones, Knowing Christ (Banner of Truth Publishing, 2015). In this very helpful book, Dr. Jones introduces us to a number of qualities, characteristics, and truths about our Savior, including: His dignity, incarnation, divinity, humanity, emotions, prayers, miracles, sinlessness, and more!

I look forward to some wonderful fellowship and study with our men!

May our Lord bless you all with His peace, and I love you very much,

Mike

Family Forum:

We wanted to send you a reminder regarding our upcoming Family Forum ministry event at Christ Presbyterian Church. The last day to sign up for the event will be Friday, February 11th. Are you in need of childcare during the event? Please contact us (email below) for any assistance you might need in order to attend the forum.

Our family forum is an opportunity for our church members to consider various topics on Christian discipleship, family, marriage, and parenting. Our sessions for this forum will orbit around the topic of parenting and sexuality. We will consider Biblical wisdom and guidance for parenting in an age of sexual chaos, promote awareness of helpful literature and resources for talking to your children and teens about sex and sexuality, and devote some time to discussion and Q/A.

While the forum will be directly helpful to parents, the event will be informative and useful to any who have a present or future interest in the discipleship of children. Please consider this opportunity as you consider your role as a parent, grandparent, or your general commitment to the nurture of covenant children in our fellowship!

The event begins at 5:30pm with an optional fellowship dinner preceding the sessions. If you choose to forgo the dinner, the form will begin at 6:15. The cost of the forum is free. For the dinner, a $10 (per person) donation is encouraged to help us offset the cost of food.

If you are interested in attending, please let us know by clicking here!

Children’s Ministry:

I hope you all had a wonderful advent season and are filled with hope and encouragement as we get ready to face a new year. I have created a new nursery volunteer sign up for the first quarter of 2022.

We invite any lady aged 13-113 who is a member of Christ Pres to volunteer to help our nursery staff during worship service on Sundays. We have been operating with one nursery and have had anywhere from 2-8 children in our nursery. Due to potential large numbers, we are adding an additional volunteer slot. With fewer than 6 children, one volunteer will be dismissed to worship.

Please follow the link below to sign up. On the day(s) you are signed up, you will report to the nursery at 10:15 to help greet our littles as they arrive. Amanda or Ashley will be there to get you started and Mrs. Irene, our nursery worker, will be there the duration of the service.

Signup Genius sends you a reminder two days out so you won’t forget!
