Sermon Preview:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

This coming Lord’s Day we will look again at the inspired words of Hebrews 12:14-17.

You will remember that we have identified five exhortations in this section of the epistle, each having to do with running the great “race that is set before us” (12:1). These appeals answer the question, ‘What now?’ That is, what do we do now that we know about the purpose and eternal benefits of the afflictions that our Father brings into our lives (vv. 4-11)?

We might list the exhortations this way:

One: Raise Your Hands and Walk a Straight Path (vv. 12-13)

Two: Fervently Pursue Peace (v.14)

Three: Fervently Pursue Holiness (v. 14)

Four: Don’t Come Short of God’s Grace (v. 15)

Five: Don’t Tolerate Sin’s Bitter Pollution (vv. 15-17)

Last Sunday, we examined the first two of these exhortations. This week, we will consider the remaining three as we learn how to prepare ourselves for ‘racing’ well.

I hope to see you all on the Lord’s Day, and I love you dearly!

Mike

Announcements:

RUF Snacks:

It’s time to sign up for the March UAH RUF large group meeting snacks. Home-baked cookies would be a blessing for these young people. Other suggested items will be on the sign up sheet. The next RUF large group is Monday March 7. We collect snacks on Sunday March 6 and deliver to campus for the Monday meeting.
Please let me know if you might be interested in bringing snacks to campus on Monday evening at 7 PM. The students appreciate it so much!
Please pray for the young men and women who attend the RUF large group meeting. Many hearts are turned to the Lord during these sessions.
Thank you for your help!

Children’s Ministry:

Praise the Lord for a nursery full of covenant children! We had 11 in our classroom this past Sunday. And we have 5 ladies who are expecting babies in the next 6 months!

We have not yet had doors open for us to have more paid staff so we are once again reassessing our nursery plan and making changes that we think will be helpful until we can hire someone. Thank you so very much for your patience as we have made so many changes in the past year. Going from consistent full nursery staff to only one has been a challenge for all. Praise the Lord for Irene!

We will plan to open both nurseries as of this coming Sunday. Hooray! But we will have to do so with leadership from our mothers.

Baby Nursery: Mrs. Irene, Member Volunteer
Toddler Nursery: Rotating Mom Lead, Member Volunteer, Teen Helper if need be

See the link below to sign up for the toddler nursery for the month of March:

Rotating Mom Lead Toddler Nursery

Moms taking the lead will give our toddlers familiarity! Please make sure our volunteers know how much they are appreciated each week. What a wonderful and beautiful church body we are blessed to be a part of! It really does take a village.

I think this will also be a great way for us young moms to connect with older women in the church in a more intimate way than just exchanging greetings when we drop off and pick up our children.

Please let me know if I can do anything for you! And if you know anyone who would be a good fit in our nursery on a weekly basis, send them to Ashley 🙂
