As we come to the end of August, we are down to our last two sermons on the Epistle of Second John. This Sunday we will be looking at 2 John 1:9-11, and then next week we will finish up with John’s final words to the Church recorded in verses 12-13. In our text for this week, John will offer some very practical instruction regarding how the Church should deal with false teachers. As we have come to expect from him, the Apostle’s commands are straight to the point: “do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting” (v. 10). The implications of this blunt directive are many, and they touch not only the life of the Church as a body, but each individual member as well. Strong words for dangerous times!
