Marching to Zion: Part One

Series:
Passage: Hebrews 12:18-22
Service Type:

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

This coming Lord’s Day, our sermon will come from Hebrews 12:18-24. Verse 18 of this passage begins a paragraph that draws a sharp contrast between two mountains.

The first one mentioned was the central mountain of the Old Covenant, Mt. Sinai (vv. 18-21). The Second one is the central mountain of the New Covenant, Mt. Zion (vv. 22-24).

In order to remain faithful to Christ and His Kingdom, the author of this Epistle summons his readers to look carefully at the distinctive features of each mountain. While they share some very important characteristics, there are critical differences that all believers must see and appreciate.

In our message, we will first explore the fascinating place of mountains in the plan of salvation. Then, we will take a very close look at Mt. Sinai.

As we examine these two mountains over the next couple of week, let’s remember what the purpose for this comparison really is: that we might love, serve, adore, treasure, and serve faithfully the One who is “the mediator of a new covenant” (v. 24).
