The Lion of Judah

Series:
Passage: Revelation 5:5
Service Type:

In the Word of God we discover that there are many names and titles for Jesus our Lord. Among them are, the “Resurrection and the Life,” the “Bread of Life,” the “Light of the World,” the “Good Shepherd,” and the “Prince of Peace.” But there is a most unusual and puzzling one that we find in the final book of Holy Scripture. In Revelation 5:5 Jesus is called the “Lion that is from the tribe of Judah.” Of course, such a title—like all of the special names by which our Lord is known—tells us something very significant about Him. On the surface, such a designation seems dramatically at odds with another of our Lord’s blessed names, the “Lamb of God.” What could this name “Lion” mean? What does it reveal to us about our Savior?

On this coming Lord’s Day, Resurrection Sunday, we will open the inspired Word to this amazing passage found in Revelation 5:1-5. And we will mine the deep riches of this sacred Name as we worship the risen King!
