The Second Commandment: Worshipping the One Triune God Part 3
What is ‘worship’? What are the similarities between the worship of the Old Covenant saints and that of New Covenant believers in Christ? What are the differences? What are the elements of New Covenant Worship? What should we be doing or not doing in our Lord’s Day service of worship each week?
In our third and final message on the Second Commandment of the Decalogue (Exodus 20:4-6) we will be considering the proper and essential elements of Biblical worship. As we have seen, the Second Commandment forbids the use of any image or likeness of God as an aid to worship. But given this restriction, what is allowed in the worship of our Triune God? This Lord’s Day we will try and make the ‘covenantal connection’ that will help us understand how we are to worship in the way that Jesus commanded, “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
